Representatives of the six Partner Councils and DPE jumped on a boat to discuss and learn issues about the Lower Hawkesbury Estuary. Specifically, we looked at on-site remote water quality monitoring stations, foreshore development, variety of seawalls and retaining walls currently in place, erosion issues, riparian vegetation types and learn about community life in the river and commercial industries like oyster farming and school prawn trawling. The group plans to do these trips in other areas of the Hawkesbury Nepean River System so that everyone understands the key issues occurring along the river system so we can implement sophisticated management approaches.
