The Hawkesbury-Nepean River Coastal Management Program (CMP) is being developed by six councils that border the tidal section of the Hawkesbury estuary with support from the NSW Government. While we will aim to consider all physical and ecological processes occurring throughout the Hawkesbury-Nepean River catchment from its source in Goulburn, the CMP will primarily focus on the impacts within the tidal section stretching over 145 km of the river from Broken Bay up to Yarramundi near Richmond. The CMP also covers the waterways of Pittwater and Brisbane Water which converge with the Lower Hawkesbury River at Broken Bay.

We are looking for your feedback regarding threats impacting the estuary. This information will help us prioritise our management efforts accordingly. The Hawkesbury-Nepean River CMP project team have prepared two ways for you, to give us your feedback:

This mapping tool can be used to pinpoint particular threats to help us identify high-priority areas

New project factsheets

To complement our new ‘Have Your Say’ portal and to streamline the identification of threats and management priorities within the Hakwesbury-Nepean River System, we have developed factsheets that cover one of the 5 overarching threat categories identified in the program’s Stage 1 Scoping Study.

Engagement updates

Woytopia - 31 Oct, Central Coast-based sustainability festival that allowed the Hawkesbury-Nepean River CMP project team to engage with over 100 people who are passionate about sustainable living and have a conversation about why CMPs are important for the sustainable management of our river systems now and in the future.

Stakeholder workshop - 23 Nov, a full-day event organised to update our government stakeholders on the progress with the 2nd Stage of the CMP. 28 representatives from 21 local and state government agencies that work in the Hawkesbury-Nepean River space have come together to share new information about each other’s work and reaffirm commitment and collaboration during the next stage of the CMP.
