Hawkesbury-Nepean River Coastal Management Program newsletter

The Hawkesbury-Nepean River Coastal Management Program (CMP) is being developed by six councils that border the tidal section of the Hawkesbury estuary with support from the NSW Government. While we will aim to consider all physical and ecological processes occurring throughout the Hawkesbury-Nepean River catchment from its source in Goulburn, the CMP will primarily focus on the impacts within the tidal section stretching over 145 km of the river from Broken Bay up to Yarramundi near Richmond. The CMP also covers the waterways of Pittwater and Brisbane Water which converge with the Lower Hawkesbury River at Broken Bay.

Time is running out…

… to HAVE YOU SAY about threats and vulnerabilities facing our beautiful river system. This information will help us prioritise our management efforts accordingly. The last day for submissions is the 20th of February 2023.

The Hawkesbury-Nepean River CMP project team have prepared two ways for you, to give us your feedback:

1. Threats and management priorities survey

10 questions to help us understand priority threats to be addressed in further stages of the CMP

2. Interactive map

This mapping tool can be used to pinpoint particular threats to help us identify high-priority areas

Engagement updates

This Saturday, 18 February 2023, our Hawkesbury-Nepean River CMP team will be attending the Taste of Seafood Festival at Mooney-Mooney Club. Visit our stall from 9:30 am to talk to our team to help us understand your priorities for the future of the river. Look out for the light blue flags and aerial images of our beautiful river!

‘Taste of Seafood’ Festivals are run by the Professional Fishers Association (PFA) with the objective of championing local industry and supporting sustainable fishing practices. The PFA invited us to the Festival to promote the CMP and to show their support for the initiative.
